Dorothy "Dottie" Walsh

Dorothy (Dottie) Walsh (nee Paglia) 57 of Oakdale, New York, passed away on March 27, 2024, after a long illness.  Beloved wife of Thomas, and cherished mother of Thomas Jr. (Kira) and Amy.  Daughter of the late Nick and Barbara Paglia, and one of four siblings, Donna Biglin (Tim), Debbie Masterson (Pat) and Nick Paglia (Naomi).  Sister-in-law to Mary Fabian, Annie Walsh, Catherine Tavares, Mike Walsh (Vera) and Margaret Cappuccio (Bob).  She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.  Dottie is predeceased by her beloved Aunt Bep, who was a second mother to her.

Dottie was a 1984 graduate of Sayville High School.  She worked as a nurse's aide and pharmacy tech while raising her children.  She was so proud of her son, Tommy, an accountant, and her daughter, Amy, a school teacher.

Dottie loved the beach, cooking and horse racing and everyone complimented on her beautiful caligraphy handwriting.  She had a great sense of humor, and always made you laugh.  She was the best dog mom to Sandy, Spike, Lacy and Ben and to her parrot, Rosie.

Dottie cherished her special bond and friendship with Dorothy Tavares (Mrs. T).  She was so grateful that her life was touched by Mrs. T's caring heart and generous spirit.

Thomas (Tom) and Dottie were married for 32 years.  A year ago Tom retired from the Brentwood School District to be a full-time caregiver to Dottie.  She knew how lucky she was to have him by her side.  She was a fighter and was strong and so proud to attend her son's wedding on September 15, 2023.
